Sponsored by the Kadıköy Belediyesi (Municipality of Kadıköy), the Mural Istanbul street art festival covers building facades by artists who have travelled near and far to paint murals all over Kadıköy. Most of them are in Rasimpaşa Mahallesi (the Windmill district) and they hope to spread color throughout more neighborhoods in the future.

I’ve seen a couple of the murals being painted in stages, but today I set out to see the completed pieces both new and old, and to explore an area I haven’t been to yet. It was quite a rewarding treasure hunt.
