We took the ferry to Karaköy and met a friend, a native Turk who took us to lunch under the Galata Bridge. This area is the go-to place to have fish or the popular fish sandwich in Istanbul.

The bridge is lined with hundreds of fisherman, where the street below is covered in fish markets and restaurants. Based on what I saw, I wouldn’t be surprised if they pulled the fish from the water, straight to the fryer in the front of the restaurant.

The fish plate was served with arugula, lemon and half an onion. The salad plate was filled with lettuce, carrots, tomatoes, red cabbage and lemon (for dressing). The table was provided a big basket of bread.

We sat in the back of the restaurant which was an experience. We had chickens and cats running around the tables.
